Opening Narrative
Hello and welcome to another exciting radio program today on end times and prophecies and scriptures to live by... which is all about old-time gospel and worship music, praying for needs and preaching the Word of God....
And remember this radio programs Virtual Church for the Spiritual Unchurched is broadcast every Sunday at 7 am and 7 pm pacific time... and if you unfortunately miss it for whatever reason at any time, you can hear the program any time after that for 4 weeks...at my web site TimingRevelation.com
So, we continue today in the new series started a few weeks ago, based on my book “The Horizontal Chronology of the Four Gospels”...
And I did mention to you before that with this series begins the start of the 8th year of these radio programs Virtual Church for the Spiritual Unchurched.
As you already know In this series we look at the four gospels in a new light as they are presented by chronological events taking place within the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John which are presented separately in the Bible ...
It is all the same gospel.... but in chronological order of events taking place, which lets us hear or see side by side who reported and what each said on these events taking place in the gospels.
So, we continue today, with the new series from the book of Deuteronomy in the Old Testament, which is a review by Moses of the previous three books of the Old Testament.
We will begin here right after this opening music, prayer and worship...
Prayer
Praise God Doxology
Worship music
Narrative 1
So last week we ended with chapters 26, 27 and 28 where we read about the blessings of obedience and the consequences of disobedience... and as usual you can see the replay of this program on my web site if you need to look at it... at TimingRevelation.com...
We went through it in summary because there is so much to cover in these chapters, but everyone was encouraged to read them in details on your own time and make notes of what is of specific interest to you... and I do hope that you have had time to do that...there is truly a lot in there to read about for 2 reasons:
1_) to understand what God originally gave to His people at that time of the Old Testament, and
2_) to understand how all that is still relevant today one way or another... and,
3_) again to appreciate so much more what Jesus did on the cross when He gave His blood as the ultimate sacrifice for the righteous expectancies that man cannot keep before the Holy God of Creation.
So let's read from chapter 30:
And I'm going to read this from the new King James Bible:
The Blessing of Returning to God,
verses 1 to 10:
1_“Now it shall come to pass, when all these things come upon you, the blessing and the curse which I have set before you, and you call them to mind among all the nations where the Lord your God drives you,
2 and you return to the Lord your God and obey His voice, according to all that I command you today, you and your children, with all your heart and with all your soul,
3 that the Lord your God will bring you back from captivity, and have compassion on you, and gather you again from all the nations where the Lord your God has scattered you.
4 If any of you are driven out to the farthest parts under heaven, from there the Lord your God will gather you, and from there He will bring you.
5 Then the Lord your God will bring you to the land which your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it. He will prosper you and multiply you more than your fathers.
6 And the Lord your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, to love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may live.
7 “Also the Lord your God will put all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate you, who persecuted you.
8 And you will again obey the voice of the Lord and do all His commandments which I command you today.
9 The Lord your God will make you abound in all the work of your hand, in the [b]fruit of your body, in the increase of your livestock, and in the produce of your land for good. For the Lord will again rejoice over you for good as He rejoiced over your fathers,
10 if you obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which are written in this Book of the Law, and if you turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
The Choice of Life or Death
verses 11 to 19
and here is where we find that famous scripture that we hear so often of choosing between life and death as the Lord sets it before us... let's read that:
11 “For this commandment which I command you today is not hidden from you (too mysterious for you), nor is it far off.
12 It is not in heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will ascend into heaven for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’
13 Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will go over the sea for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’
14 But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it.
15 “See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil,
16 in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess.
17 But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them,
18 I announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess.
And now here it is:
19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;
20 that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.”
Wow this is wonderful and I tell you this is just as relevant today as it was then when it was given to God's people in the wilderness...

Narrative # 2
Alright so let's now move into chapter 31... where we read about Joshua being commissioned as Moses' successor..
and I'll go back to the Old King James...
v. 1_”And Moses went and spake these words unto all Israel.
2 And he said unto them, I am an hundred and twenty years old this day; I can no more go out and come in: also the Lord hath said unto me, Thou shalt not go over this Jordan.
3 The Lord thy God, he will go over before thee, and he will destroy these nations from before thee, and thou shalt possess them: and Joshua, he shall go over before thee, as the Lord hath said.
4 And the Lord shall do unto them as he did to Sihon and to Og, kings of the Amorites, and unto the land of them, whom he destroyed.
5 And the Lord shall give them up before your face, that ye may do unto them according unto all the commandments which I have commanded you.
6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
7 And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou must go with this people unto the land which the Lord hath sworn unto their fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to inherit it.
8 And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.
9 And Moses wrote this law, and delivered it unto the priests the sons of Levi, which bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and unto all the elders of Israel.
10_”And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven years, in the solemnity of the year of release, in the feast of tabernacles,
(Note: now, this is interesting because we are now just about a week away from this very feast mentioned here right now, I believe it is October 7... so here is what's that Feast is about:)
11 When all Israel is come to appear before the Lord thy God in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing.
12 Gather the people together, men and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the Lord your God, and observe to do all the words of this law:
13 And that their children, which have not known any thing, may hear, and learn to fear the Lord your God, as long as ye live in the land whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.
So then in the next verses, God speaks to Moses personally with instructions to carry out in these last days of Moses...
v._”14 And the Lord said unto Moses, Behold, thy days approach that thou must die: call Joshua, and present yourselves in the tabernacle of the congregation, that I may give him a charge.
And Moses and Joshua went, and presented themselves in the tabernacle of the congregation.
15 And the Lord appeared in the tabernacle in a pillar of a cloud: and the pillar of the cloud stood over the door of the tabernacle.
And here God prophesied sad days that lie ahead for the people – as God always knows the beginning from the end...
and we'll read that right after this...

Narrative #3
So here the Lord prophesies sad days that lie ahead for the people...
verse 16_”And the Lord said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land, whither they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them.
17 Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us, because our God is not among us?
Hummm and we wonder today why are all these terrible things going on around us... where is God, we say... well here it is... it's all written in God's book!
18 And I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evils which they shall have wrought, in that they are turned unto other gods.
19 Now therefore write ye this song for you, and teach it the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel.
In other words, He tells Moses to write this song so that when He doesn't answer them at a time when they turn against Him they will be able to sing this song that they have learned and it will speak to them at that time.
v. 20 For when I shall have brought them into the land which I sware unto their fathers, that floweth with milk and honey; and they shall have eaten and filled themselves, and waxen fat; then will they turn unto other gods, and serve them, and provoke me, and break my covenant.
21 And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles are befallen them, that this song shall testify against them as a witness; for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed: for I know their imagination which they go about, even now, before I have brought them into the land which I sware.
22 Moses therefore wrote this song the same day, and taught it the children of Israel.
23 And he gave Joshua the son of Nun a charge, and said, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou shalt bring the children of Israel into the land which I sware unto them: and I will be with thee.
And next we read about the Law to be placed in the ark:
verses 24 to 30,
24 And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished,
25 That Moses commanded the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord, saying,
26 Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.
27 For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against the Lord; and how much more after my death?
28 Gather unto me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call heaven and earth to record against them.
29 For I know that after my death ye will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the latter days; because ye will do evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands.
30 And Moses spake in the ears of all the congregation of Israel the words of this song, until they were ended.
And here the song is written out in the Bible, but it is very long... howbeit very interesting... I definitely encourage all listening in today to go to chapter 32 after the program today and read it carefully... over the next day or week... because although this was written then for God's people, it is still relevant for God's people today in meaning and understanding across the generations...
God actually wrote the words as He gave it to Moses -- this is something that was very prominent in the life of Moses the faithful servant of the Lord God... that God would give Moses various instructions, and specific plans and blueprints throughout his life as he led God's wandering people across the desert...
the words of the song are God's words, about Himself to the people of God...
And here I will read what the Liberty Bible Commentary says about it :
(Quote) ” ... even though it is primarily the song of Moses, Joshua was in the presence of God when the commandment was given to write the song. The fact that God used a song to communicate his message shows the impact of music. When the people once learned the words, they would sing it during their daily activities. Thus, the song could be transmitted from generation to another generation. By singing, people would be warned against idolatry. Even though the command was given to both Moses and Joshua, Moses therefore wrote this song the same day.”(Unquote)...
This is what hymns USED TO BE in the church. They were messages to learn about the Bible... it was used all the time – all these beautiful Christian hymns that we no longer hear and that are so much missed in the church – in the churches – especially by the older generations... we lost here something very doctrinal and theologically educative and very dear and special to the heart of God...
So, it continues in the commentary... (Quote) “... (The song) (It) tells of the faithfulness of God. He will surely bless His people: but when they reject His love, He will just as surely punish them in His anger. Because of its poetic nature, the people would be reminded of the practical consequences of doctrine every time they sang this song.
“The song has several characteristics:
1)_it has an abundance of pictures, metaphors, and poetic expressions that show the feelings of God:
2)_it is a witness against the disobedient nation that has been blessed far above all the other nation of the earth; and
3)_the song is a prophetic anticipation of the future judgments.
At the time of writing, it was unlikely that such a song would ever be fulfilled, inasmuch as it was written when Israel was at the zenith of their obedience.” (Unquote)

Closing Narrative…
Oh how wonderful to appreciate what Jesus has done in our lives to save us from sin by Grace... and how He continues to keep us by His on-going and unlimited Grace...
...that wonderful Grace that comes into our life the moment that we receive Him as for who He is -- the Saviour of mankind and of every individual like you and me personally...
... and this Jesus the Son of God who came to give His life for you and me is the same Jesus who's life we've been reading about in these series of programs right now, and who's death on the cross we will see as we go through the gospel story to where He gave Himself as the sacrificial Lamb of God that took the sin of the world...
...but right now, the question is:
...do you know this Jesus that we're talking about? If you don't know the Lord...
...Just say this prayer, “Lord come into my heart, come into my life, I turn to you right now and ask for forgiveness, I repent of my sins and receive your work on the cross... I receive your gospel as it was delivered through your blood shed on the cross in my place, and I thank you, Amen...
