Opening Narrative
Hello and welcome to another exciting radio program today on end times and prophecies and scriptures to live by... which is all about old-time gospel and worship music, praying for needs and preaching the Word of God....
And remember this radio programs Virtual Church for the Spiritual Unchurched is broadcast every Sunday at 7 am and 7 pm pacific time... and if you unfortunately miss it for whatever reason at any time, you can hear the program any time after that for 4 weeks...at my web site TimingRevelation.com
So, we continue today in the new series started a few weeks ago, based on my book “The Horizontal Chronology of the Four Gospels”...
And I did mention to you before that with this series begins the start of the 8th year of these radio programs Virtual Church for the Spiritual Unchurched.
As you already know In this series we look at the four gospels in a new light as they are presented by chronological events taking place within the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John which are presented separately in the Bible ...
It is all the same gospel.... but in chronological order of events taking place, which lets us hear or see side by side who reported and what each said on these events taking place in the gospels.
So, we continue today, with the new series from the book of Deuteronomy in the Old Testament, which is a review by Moses of the previous three books of the Old Testament.
We will begin here right after this opening music, prayer and worship...
Prayer
Praise God Doxology

Narrative 1
Alright so let's pick up from where we finished last week with verses 6 and 7 of Deuteronomy chapter 9 where God said, “Therefore understand that the Lord your God is not giving you this good land to possess because of your righteousness, for you are a stiff-necked people.“
Remember when God gave the 10 commandments to His people, he told them if they obey it will go well with them, but if they do not obey there would be judgment...
and of course we see the consequences of this clearly throughout Biblical history.
Thank God for the Word of God by which God speaks to His people -- and that includes us today ! What a mighty God we serve indeed.
I recently watched a debate from a University in the Netherland somewhere – can't remember exactly the place – however 2 physicists – one Atheist and one Christian -- exchanged their views on the topic of whether science will ever prove the existence of God.
The interesting debate went on for over an hour, during which time a lot of scientific arguments went on liberally... but in the end nothing could come to the conclusive satisfaction of everyone in the audience – except for those who truly saw God in the presentations of the Christian side of John Lennox of Oxford University, who is a born-again Christian.
And this is where my thought of the “Word of God” a moment ago came from... all we have to do is look at the Word of God... that is proof that God exists... His Word... He communicates with us by and through His well preserved Word... and also through His Creation all around us...
...we read in Psalm 19:1, “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament proclaims His handiwork...” what?, are we blind?
and... not only “His Word” in written form, but, also His Word in the flesh ! ...
1_"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2_"The same was in the beginning with God.
(“the same” is the greek word “hoo-tos” which is a pronoun meaning here “this Word”..this Word that we're talking about, capital W...)
v._"3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4_"In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5_"And the light shineth (verb, 3rd person, singular, present) shines in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” (kat-alamba-nō -- to grab hold of with the mind...)
I mean, the Word of God is not hard to understand – as I've read somewhere, “the Bible doesn't need to be re-written... it needs to be re-read”... and we don't do enough of that...
The problem with people who don't “get it”, is that they don't “read it”... one can read it but not connect with it... we have to take it seriously... the Word is the Word of God.

Narrative # 2
Alright so let's get back to our Bible reading of today...
Picking up from Deuteronomy, chapter 9 after verses 6 and 7 that we jut read at the beginning... where they are told that God does not give them the land because they're righteous... God says but because of the wickedness of the surrounding nations... in other words it's God's name that's at stake here when His people disobey...
So let's pick up here now... Moses continues in verse 8....
8_"Also in Horeb (Sinai) ye provoked the Lord to wrath, so that the Lord was angry with you to have destroyed you.”
In other words God was angry enough with them that He could have destroyed them.
v. 9_"When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, even (that is) the tables of the covenant which the Lord made with you, then I abode (or I stayed) in the mount forty days and forty nights, I neither did eat bread nor drink water:
10_"And the Lord delivered unto me two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them was written according to all the words, which the Lord spake with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.
11_"And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that the Lord gave me the two tables of stone, even (that is) the tables of the covenant.
(The 10 commandments are the covenant spoken of here).
12_"And the Lord said unto me, Arise, get thee down quickly from hence; for thy people which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they are quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten image.
13_"Furthermore the Lord spake unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:
14_"Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven: and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.
Wow, isn't that amazing, God is so angry that He would be ready to destroy them and start all over again with Moses as the head of the people... this people were the ones who came from the line of Abraham, remember? But now He's ready to start over again with Moses instead of Abraham... that's pretty serious!
Let's continue...
v.15_"Moses speaking, “So I turned and came down from the mount, and the mount burned with fire: and the two tables of the covenant were in my two hands.
So remember he's reviewing what took place at Sinai, 40 years earlier...
16_"And I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned against the Lord your God, and had made you a molten calf: ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which the Lord had commanded you.
So it seems that whenever things went wrong for them, or they were fearful, they turned to idolatry... they turned to the other gods of the land... that's why God warned them to not make any images of idols that the other nations were worshipping... because they would turned quickly to them...
v._"Moses continues, “And I took the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and brake them before your eyes.
18_"And I fell down before the Lord, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I did neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sins which ye sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger.
19_"For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure, wherewith the Lord was wroth against you to destroy you. But the Lord hearkened unto me (or listened to me) at that time also.
20_"And the Lord was very angry with Aaron to have destroyed him: and I prayed for Aaron also the same time.
So, now Aaron, remember Moses' brother, looks like he had turned just as bad as the people.
21_"And, Moses continues, I took your sin, the calf which ye had made, and burnt it with fire, and stamped it, and ground it very small, even until it was as small as dust: and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that descended out of the mount.
22_"And at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibrothhattaavah, ye provoked the Lord to wrath.
23_"Likewise when the Lord sent you from Kadeshbarnea, saying, Go up and possess the land which I have given you; then ye rebelled against the commandment of the Lord your God, and ye believed him not, nor hearkened (listened) to his voice.
24_"Ye have been rebellious against the Lord from the day that I knew you.
25_"Thus I fell down before the Lord forty days and forty nights, as I fell down at the first; because the Lord had said he would destroy you.
So Moses is telling us that he fell down on his knees before the Lord and fasted for forty days several times not just once...
26_"I prayed therefore unto the Lord, and said, O Lord God, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.
27_"Remember thy servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; look not unto the stubbornness of this people, nor to their wickedness, nor to their sin:
So this is Moses pleading with God on behalf of the people, wow....
28_"Lest the land whence from which) thou broughtest us out should say, Because the Lord was not able to bring them into the land which he promised them, and because he hated them, he hath brought them out to slay them in the wilderness. And of course “the land” speaks of “the people” from the land who would say that.
29_"Yet they are thy people and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest out by thy mighty power and by thy stretched out arm...
in other words Moses says to God, yes these people deserve to be destroyed because of their stubbornness and wickedness, but don't destroy them because they are your people and your inheritance which you brought out by your mighty power and outstretched arm...
And, lo and behold, amazingly God repented of His intentions to destroy them... and this is when then we read in the Word of God, that God tells Moses to come up the mountain again and He will write the tables of commandment which He had written in the tables that was broken...
Wow, they were lucky – or blessed rather -- to have Moses as their leader... He was truly powerful before the Lord... think of it... what he went

Narrative #3
So let's continue picking up in chapter 10...
v.1_"At that time the Lord said unto me, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first, and come up unto me into the mount, and make thee an ark of wood.
2_"And I will write on the tables the words that were in the first tables which thou brakest, and thou shalt put them in the ark.
So in other words God said to Moses:
“‘Cut yourself two stone tablets like the first ones, come up to me on the mountain, and make yourself an ark of wood. I will inscribe on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke; and you are to put them in the ark.”
3,_"And I made an ark of shittim wood, and hewed two tables of stone like unto the first, and went up into the mount, having the two tables in mine hand.
This refers to Exodus 25:10 when God told Moses to build the ark of the covenant.
It was divinely instructed to be built during the time on Mount Sinai. God provided Moses with the design and specifications, including the materials to use, and the dimensions. This was to house the Tablets of Stone containing the Ten Commandments, and was to be carried by the Israelites during their 40 years of wandering in the desert.
And, verse 4, Moses continues speaking to the people:
_"And he (God) wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which the Lord spake unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly: and the Lord gave them unto me.
So this is referring back to Sinai when this was done in the first place.
v.5,_"And I turned myself and came down from the mount, and put the tables in the ark which I had made; and there they be, as the Lord commanded me.
And verse 6 continues, “And the children of Israel took their journey from Beeroth of the children of Jaakan to Mosera: there Aaron died, and there he was buried; and Eleazar his son ministered in the priest's office in his stead.
7_"From thence they journeyed unto Gudgodah; and from Gudgodah to Jotbath, a land of rivers of waters.
8_"At that time the Lord separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the Lord, to stand before the Lord to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, unto this day.
So now they had the ark of the covenant with them.
9_"Wherefore Levi(or this is why Levi) hath no part nor inheritance with his brethren; the Lord is his inheritance, according as the Lord thy God promised him.
So Levi was the priesthood and so therefore they had no inheritance of land with their brethren.
10_"And I stayed in the mount, according to the first time, forty days and forty nights; and the Lord hearkened (listened) unto me at that time also, and the Lord would not destroy thee.
11_"And the Lord said unto me, Arise, take thy journey before the people, that they may go in and possess the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give unto them.
12_"And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,
13_"To keep the commandments of the Lord, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?
14_"Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the Lord's thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is.
15_"Only the Lord had a delight in thy fathers to love them, and he chose their seed after them, even (that is) you above all people, as it is this day.
16_"Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiff-necked.
This is very interesting... God tells His people right here to circumcise their heart which is a term that comes up again later in the New Covenant...
17_"For the Lord your God is God of gods, (small “g”, in other words God is the God of all other “small g” gods), and Lord of lords (small l”), a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward (in other words, who has no favorites and accepts no bribes).”
Wow, that's awesome... all of what took place way back when God's people began – or were chosen to begin a journey of example to all other nations.
18_"He doth execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow, and loveth the stranger, in giving him food and raiment. (Or, He secures justice for the orphan and the widow; he loves the foreigner, giving him food and clothing.)
19_"Love ye therefore the stranger: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.
Now here we have to be careful, many people read this scripture out of context, referring it to illegal strangers... we can talk about that in another program, but of course it is referring to legal strangers who come into the land appreciating the land and the people and the God of the land.
v. 20_"Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God; Him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name.
21_"He is thy praise, and he is thy God, that hath done for thee these great and terrible things (or these awesome things), which thine eyes have seen.
22_"Thy fathers went down into Egypt with threescore and ten persons (or 70 persons) remember Abraham went there with 70 people from Babylon); and now the Lord thy God hath made thee as the stars of heaven for multitude. And remember right now they are in the millions...
... and we have come to the end of this program for today... next week we will continue from here, moving on to chapter 11 which speaks of the blessings of the land ..

Closing Narrative…
Oh how wonderful to appreciate what Jesus has done in our lives to save us from sin by Grace... and how He continues to keep us by His on-going and unlimited Grace...
...that wonderful Grace that comes into our life the moment that we receive Him as for who He is -- the Saviour of mankind and of every individual like you and me personally...
... and this Jesus the Son of God who came to give His life for you and me is the same Jesus who's life we've been reading about in these series of programs right now, and who's death on the cross we will see as we go through the gospel story to where He gave Himself as the sacrificial Lamb of God that took the sin of the world...
...but right now, the question is:
...do you know this Jesus that we're talking about? If you don't know the Lord...
...Just say this prayer, “Lord come into my heart, come into my life, I turn to you right now and ask for forgiveness, I repent of my sins and receive your work on the cross... I receive your gospel as it was delivered through your blood shed on the cross in my place, and I thank you, Amen...
