Opening Narrative
Hello and welcome to another exciting radio program today on end times and prophecies and scriptures to live by... which is all about old-time gospel and worship music, praying for needs and preaching the Word of God....
And remember this radio programs Virtual Church for the Spiritual Unchurched is broadcast every Sunday at 7 am and 7 pm pacific time... and if you unfortunately miss it for whatever reason at any time, you can hear the program any time after that for 4 weeks...at my web site TimingRevelation.com
So, we continue today in the new series started a few weeks ago, based on my book “The Horizontal Chronology of the Four Gospels”...
And I did mention to you before that with this series begins the start of the 8th year of these radio programs Virtual Church for the Spiritual Unchurched.
As you already know In this series we look at the four gospels in a new light as they are presented by chronological events taking place within the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John which are presented separately in the Bible ...
It is all the same gospel.... but in chronological order of events taking place, which lets us hear or see side by side who reported and what each said on these events taking place in the gospels.
So, we continue today from the ending of the chronology of the four gospels series that we completed in the earlier series on that topic.
We are now at Part 6 of the book of Acts which was started a few weeks ago.
We will pick up from here right after this opening music, prayer and worship...

Praise God Doxology

Narrative 1
Alright so let's pick up from where we left off last week on Stephen's speech to the Jewish rulers... we were at the story of Moses from back in the book of Exodus, when as a 3-months old baby Moses was placed in a basket by his parents to save his life against the decree of Pharaoh to kill all the Jewish babies... but as God would have it, Pharaoh's daughter found the boy and picked him up to raise him herself...
so, let's pick up from here at chapter 7, verse 21 that we read last week, and continuing from verse 22 today where Stephen is still speaking to the Jewish rulers, reviewing their whole story from the Old Testament – which they knew very well...
and I'm going to read this from the New King James version:
21_”But when he was set out, Pharaoh’s daughter took him away and brought him up as her own son.
22 And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and deeds.
23 “Now when he was forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren, the children of Israel.
24 And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended and avenged him who was oppressed, and struck down the Egyptian.
25 For he supposed that his brethren would have understood that God would deliver them by his hand, but they did not understand.
26 And the next day he appeared to two of them as they were fighting, and tried to reconcile them, saying, ‘Men, you are brethren; why do you wrong one another?’
27 But he who did his neighbor wrong pushed him away, saying, ‘Who made you a ruler and a judge over us?
So he's speaking...
28 Do you want to kill me as you did the Egyptian yesterday?’
Oh Oh so somebody knew...
29 Then, at this saying, Moses fled and became a dweller in the land of Midian, where he had two sons.
So now, Stephen's brings the story of the Jewish people to 40 years later... and we'll read that from verse 30...
verse 30, still in chapter 7..
now remember we are still just a few months after Jesus has ascended to heaven – it seems longer because we're doing our reading weekly, but it is still in the year 33 A.D.... just at the start of the believers new united communal living ...
So, back to the story to the Jewish people as preached by Stephen...
verse 30, chapter 7:
30 And when forty years were expired, there appeared to him in the wilderness of mount Sinai an angel of the Lord in a flame of fire in a bush.
31 When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: and as he drew near to behold it, the voice of the Lord came unto him,
32 Saying, I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then Moses trembled, and durst not behold.
33 Then said the Lord to him, Put off thy shoes from thy feet: for the place where thou standest is holy ground.
v. 34_ I have seen, I have seen the affliction of my people which is in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and am come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send thee into Egypt.
35 This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? the same did God send to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.
36 He brought them out, after that he had shewed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years.
v. 37 This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear.
So, let's stop here for a moment.
Stephen – as we said earlier -- is giving the Jewish rulers a review of their story from the Old Testament days. They all new and venerated this most important Hebrew prophet and teacher Moses...
and Stephen is getting somewhere with this.. as we will see next, right after this:

Narrative # 2
So, yes Stephen is taking the Jewish people – the religious rulers especially who want to arrest him and do away with him... he is taking them through their own “torah” teaching right up to what this whole situation is about right here at the beginning of this new covenant... that Jesus had just come to deliver and die for...
So let's continue, picking up again from v. 37, still in chapter 7, right through verse 53 :
and I'm going to read this from the “Complete Jewish Bible” this time...
v. 37 – so this is Stephen continuing with his speech...
“This is the Moshe (that's the Jewish name for Moses) This is the Moshe who said to the people of Isra’el, ‘God will raise up a prophet like me from among your brothers’
38_”This is the man who was in the assembly in the wilderness, accompanied by the angel that had spoken to him at Mount Sinai and by our fathers, the man who was given living words to pass on to us.
39_“But our fathers did not want to obey him. On the contrary, they rejected him and in their hearts turned to Egypt,
40_saying to Aharon, ‘Make us some gods to lead us; because this Moshe, who led us out of Egypt — we don’t know what has become of him.”
... now you remember this story when Moses was up the mountain getting the tablets of the ten commandments from God... so let's continue...
v. 41_”That was when they made an idol in the shape of a calf and offered a sacrifice to it and held a celebration in honor of what they had made with their own hands.
v. 42_”So God turned away from them and gave them over to worship the stars — as has been written in the book of the prophets,
‘People of Isra’el, it was not to me that you offered slaughtered animals and sacrifices for forty years in the wilderness!
.43_” No, you carried the tent of Molekh and the star of your god Reifan,
the idols you made so that you could worship them. Therefore, I will send you into exile beyond Bavel.’
v.44_“Our fathers had the Tent of Witness in the wilderness. It had been made just as God, who spoke to Moshe, had ordered it made, according to the pattern Moshe had seen.
v.45_”Later on, our fathers who had received it brought it in with Y’hoshua (or Joshyah) when they took the Land away from the nations that God drove out before them.
So it was until the days of David.
v.46_” He enjoyed God’s favor and asked if he might provide a dwelling place for the God of Ya‘akov (or Jacob)
v.47_”and Shlomo (Solomon) did build him a house.
v.48_”But Ha‘Elyon (the Most High) does not live in places made by hand! As the prophet says,
49 ‘Heaven is my throne,’ says Adonai, and the earth is my footstool. What kind of house could you build for me? What kind of place could you devise for my rest?
50 Didn’t I myself make all these things?’
v.51_“Stiffnecked people, with uncircumcised hearts and ears! You continually oppose the Ruach HaKodesh! (the Holy Spirit). You do the same things your fathers did!
Now Stephen is calling out those he's speaking to...
v.52_ “Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? They killed those who told in advance about the coming of the Tzaddik, and now you have become his betrayers and murderers! —
v.53_”you! — who receive the Torah as having been delivered by angels — but do not keep it!”
Wow, Stephen is really stirring up his listeners... we'll see how that ends up next right after this...

Narrative #3
Alright so let's pick up from where we left off and continue with our story of Stephen...
so we ended with
v.51_“Stiffnecked people, with uncircumcised hearts and ears! You continually oppose the Ruach HaKodesh! (the Holy Spirit). You do the same things your fathers did!
So Stephen is calling out those he's speaking to...
v.52_ “Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? They killed those who told in advance about the coming of the Tzaddik (the Just One), and now you have become his betrayers and murderers! —
v.53_”you! — who receive the Torah as having been delivered by angels — but do not keep it!”
Now, verse 54, and continuing with the Complete Jewish Bible version:
54_”On hearing these things, they were cut to their hearts and ground their teeth at him.
v.55_”But he, full of the Ruach HaKodesh (the Holy Spirit), looked up to heaven and saw God’s Sh’khinah, (the glory of God) with Yeshua standing at the right hand of God.
So Stephen had this vision with god and Jesus standing at the right hand of God....
v.56_“Look!” he exclaimed, “I see heaven opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!”
v.57_”At this, they began yelling at the top of their voices, so that they wouldn’t have to hear him; and with one accord, they rushed at him,
v.58_”threw him outside the city and began stoning him. And the witnesses laid down their coats at the feet of a young man named Sha’ul (Paul).
v. 59 As they were stoning him, Stephen called out to God, “Lord Yeshua! Receive my spirit!”
60 Then he kneeled down and shouted out, “Lord! Don’t hold this sin against them!”
And with that, he died;
Wow, what a story! Sad of course. Many people over the centuries have given their lives for the sake of the Gospel... then and even up to today!
So this takes us to the story of Saul who became known as Paul...
Well let's take a look at the next few verses of introduction to this new phase of this book of Acts that we are reading in right now:...
Let's read the first 4 verses of chapter 8 and we will continue from there next week:
So chapter 8, verses 1 to 4, on Saul persecuting the new church:
and I will go back reading from the King James Version:
so verse 1: And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.
2 And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.
3 As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.
4 Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.
So that was verses 1 to 4 of chapter 8...
and next week we will pick up from here and read about the gospel being preached abroad as a result of the persecution...

Closing Narrative…
Oh how wonderful to appreciate what Jesus has done in our lives to save us from sin by Grace... and how He continues to keep us by His on-going and unlimited Grace...
...that wonderful Grace that comes into our life the moment that we receive Him as for who He is -- the Saviour of mankind and of every individual like you and me personally...
... and this Jesus the Son of God who came to give His life for you and me is the same Jesus who's life we've been reading about in these series of programs right now, and who's death on the cross we will see as we go through the gospel story to where He gave Himself as the sacrificial Lamb of God that took the sin of the world...
...but right now, the question is:
...do you know this Jesus that we're talking about? If you don't know the Lord...
...Just say this prayer, “Lord come into my heart, come into my life, I turn to you right now and ask for forgiveness, I repent of my sins and receive your work on the cross... I receive your gospel as it was delivered through your blood shed on the cross in my place, and I thank you, Amen...
