The Book of Revelation, Part 5

Transcript from show #277.

(Please note that the transcripts are written pretty well as they were delivered on air).

Radio Show Opening Narrative

This program continues on a series on the Book of Revelation, level 1, based on the e-book Timing Revelation. As  mentioned previously the Lord gave me a vision a few months ago, in the middle of the night, of a chart outlining the events of the book of revelation. Within a few days I produced that chart and then went on further to write and write the 100-page e-book that goes along with this chart that the Lord gave me.

The e-book is available on this web site, which you can find throughout the pages. But I am here sharing a summary of it and interesting excerpts from the book in the next while because a lot of people are wondering “where are we in the events of the end times?” and “Are we now in the tribulation?”

And just a note of caution here... when it comes to the book of Revelation, no one can read it, understand it and interpret it completely from beginning to end at this time. We learn more and more about the details and how every verse and chapter fit together as we move year by year toward the very end. We can only try and do our best, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to put the work together.

God knew all this... nevertheless, in spite of our short comings, as we all put efforts to come up with added and corrected pieces and details, we are directed by the Word of God to read this book. It is so important, we are told that we will get a blessing for our obedience to that.

"Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand."

So always read this book with an open mind and patience.

Narrative 1

So I continue from the last program on the current series of the Book of Revelation, based on the e-book Timing Revelation available on my web site.

In part 1 of the series, I gave an overview of the whole book of Revelation. In part 2, I covered chapter 1, and skipped chapters 2 & 3 for now which is about the comment from the Lord on the 7 churches...

Last week, in part 4, we looked at chapters 5 and 6 and ran out of time at the end of chapter 6 where the 6th seal comes up next – so today, I pick up from there....

I did mention in one of the previous programs about the 8 parts of the events of the book of revelation that I charted based on the vision the Lord gave me which I included in the e-book Timing Revelation...

and I need to reiterate that again here, as a reminder to us and perhaps as a new detail of the outline of the events taking place for those who missed that program, because it is very important and helpful in understanding the events of the end times...

So as mentioned then, it is very interesting because the number 7 is significant in the divisions of divine historical things and events, taking place, etc... but here, the 8th part is the New heaven and the new earth and the new Jerusalem that begins the new eternal time line of God the Creator.

In other words, the whole of the book of Revelation is divided into 7 parts from chapter 1 to chapter 20 which includes the millennium. After that, the 8th part is about the the whole new universe that creation is so eagerly waiting for. The number 8 in the Bible speaks of New Beginning.

It is fascinating to come across these elements of the written Word of God given to us throughout the whole history -- His Story -- which shows and reiterate the awesome accuracy of His Holy Book.

So we'll get right into all that we have for today, right after this opening music, prayer and worship...

Narrative 2

So now, let's look at verses 1 to 12 of chapter 9:

Verses 1 to 12
The 5th trumpet.

1.And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to
him was given the key of the bottomless pit.

2. And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the
smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.

3. And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.

4. And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither
any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in
their foreheads.

5.And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be
tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he strikes a man.

The 5th trumpet judgment is also referred to as the first woe.

In the next verses we see a lot of references to “stars”. Some people read these as
reference to individual beings sent from heaven because some of them are given
actual tasks to perform (such as verse 1 & 2), which cannot be attributed to actual stars that we look upon from the earth.

In every instance, the word star here is the Greek word astēr (pronounced as-tair).

Some commentators believe these are angelic personages being thrown out of
heaven, just like at some point Satan will be thrown out never again to be able to access heaven to accuse the brethren.

Jesus told us in the book of Matthew that there would be plenty of signs and wonders in
the heavens in the end time.

In most cases we know these to be objects in the heavens such as comets, etc. because of the damage they inflict on the earth.

Verse 6.

And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die,
and death shall flee from them.

7.And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men.

8.And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions.

9.And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their
wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle.

10.And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months.

11.And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue has his name Apollyon.

12.One woe is past; and, behold, there come two woes more hereafter.

Again here too not many commentaries seem to be able to clarify what the locusts are.
There has been much speculation as to perhaps war equipment such as helicopters or
drones, but we are told these come from the bottomless pit, so they may be some demonic beings.

No one seems to decipher all of the elements of their description, but here too, we can
understand the terrifying destruction they are causing.

We do have one clue in verse 11 which tells us that the king over them is an angel—the
angel of the bottomless pit whose name in Hebrew is “Abaddon” and in the Greek is
Apollyon, both names meaning “destruction” or “destroyer”.

This first woe will terrify men for five months

Narrative 3

So let's get back to the book of Revelation, and we are

in Chapter 9,
picking up from verses 13 to 21

Trumpet #6

13.And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,

14.Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are
bound in the great river Euphrates.

15.And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a
month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.

16. And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand
thousand: and I heard the number of them.

17. And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having
breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were
as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone.

18. By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.

19. For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like unto
serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt.

20. And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:

21. Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

The 6th trumpet judgment is also referred to as the second woe. (We will not see woe #3 until chapter 11.)

It seems that the four angels bound in the great river Euphrates had been prepared for a year and a month, a day and an hour.

These brought about an army of 200 millions which description make it sound as army
tanks. Whatever they are they are sent to destroy another third of mankind.

In spite of all this horrific devastation we are told in verse 20 that instead of falling on their knees in repentance, men still did not repent of their works of devil worship, idols, their murders, pharmakeia (drugs), fornication, thefts, etc...

Jesus said that these days would be like the days of Noah. We know that the whole earth was covered with violence, so that means crimes and wickedness of all kinds which we now see as never before – and increasing.

“And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every
imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually...

“The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence...

“And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. (Genesis 6: 5, 11, 12.)

Narrative 4

Let's move now to chapter 10

Verses 1 to 11
The angel and the little book

1.And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a
rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:

2.And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth,

3.And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roars: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices.

4.And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.

5.And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven,

6.And swore by him that lives for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:

7.But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the
mystery of God should be finished, as he has declared to his servants the prophets.

8. And the voice which I heard from heaven spoke unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which stands upon the sea and upon the earth.

9. And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make your belly bitter, but it shall be in your mouth sweet as honey.

10. And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.

11. And he said unto me, you must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.

Here we read about a conversation taking place between the angel and John.
First, notice that this mighty angel “comes down” from heaven...” This tells us that John
is back on Patmos (or at least his spirit is).

Perhaps he came back to earth to do the physical writing of the things he is shown in
heaven, i.e.: “I was about to write” (v.4).

Then he sees this vision from heaven, of the angel setting his right foot upon the sea and his left on the earth.

And we see the angel lifting his hand up to heaven (v.5).

And in vs. 4-7, John hears voices from heaven”... and he is told not to write down
what he was about to write and that the mystery of God will be completed in the days
of the seventh angel (which we will see in chapter 11).

As for the “little book” that John was told to “eat”, it most likely refers to memorizing or
internalizing the words of it, the terrible words that he will have to prophesy yet to the many “peoples, nations, tongues and kings” after the vision has been received and he returns to the main land. We read a similar situation in Ezekiel 2 and 3.

As Paul said when he had the vision of heaven, “whether in the body or out of the
body”, this chapter tells of things that are hard to comprehend at this time.

But now, here, John is told that he will have to prophesy before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.

And the prophecies will be bitter for those who have not received the free gift of Salvation that Jesus came to deliver personally through His sacrifice on the cross – all those who rejected Him, the world then, will be deceived and later will suffer the extreme wrath of God.

But those who received Jesus's sacrifice will be taken out (the Rapture) before all of that befalls the world.

(Remember this was told to John to prophesy during his time in the early first century.)

Paul's words in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18:

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the
archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”

And this is speaking of the rapture that will take place fore all these terrible things begin.

Narrative 5

Alright, let's go now to chapter 11, and we will look at

Verses 1 to 14
The two witnesses

1.And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and
measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.

2.But the court which is outside the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given
unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

3.And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

4.These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.

5.And if any man will hurt them, fire proceeds out of their mouth, and devours their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.

6.These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and
have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.

7.And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the
bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

8.And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called
Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

9.And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead
bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.

10.And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.

11.And after three days and a half the spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.

12.And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.

13.And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell,
and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were
frightened, and gave glory to the God of heaven.

14.The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe comes quickly.

So far we read about events of the breaking of the seal judgments, the soundings of trumpets with the terrible results, etc.

From chapter 11 onward, we hear about specific people groups such as the two
witnesses, the woman and child, the dragon, the antichrist and false prophet, the harlot, Jesus returning with His bride...

Verses 1 to 14 continue the prelude that began in chapter 9, between the 6th trumpet and the 7th trumpet in chapter 11.

The vision zooms in on the temple in Jerusalem in which John was given the task of measuring. The Greek word for temple here is “naos” which means the area of the sanctuary or the Holy of Holies. This speaks of events taking place on Jewish ground.

Interestingly, this would have been very significant to the Jews at the time because
when this was written, there was no temple—it had been destroyed in 70 A.D.

The court outside was not to be touched because, according to history this area was
reserved for the Gentiles. In this scene taking place we are told Jerusalem will be tread under foot “forty and two months” (or 3-1/2 years).

We also read about the two olive trees and the two candlesticks in the book of Zechariah which is a book about the end time temple.

The fact that John is told about the temple here would indicate that the temple is at this time rebuilt, because since A.D. 70 the temple had been destroyed and the Jewish people had been worshipping in synagogues.

(However this temple will be short-lived because the real Temple to come will be built not by man but by God.)

With this information it would seem to indicate that this temple is rebuilt but in control by the Gentiles.

We know that the antichrist will let the Jewish people build their temple at the beginning of the first 3-1/2 years, but he will desecrate it in the middle of the 7-years Tribulation. That is what Jesus referred to as the “abomination of desolation spoken of in Daniel” in Matthew 24:15.

Who are the two witnesses of verse 3? No one seems to know except for what adds up to several speculations. Are they Elijah and Enoch who were translated to heaven alive, or Moses and Elija who appeared on the mount of Transfiguration of the Lord...

Whatever the case may be, the importance is not so much who they are but why they are. They are sent by God to preach the gospel to unbelieving Israel as a final attempt in a very crucial late time in Jerusalem/Israel.

And we can read their whole mission and demise taking place in these next verses where many will turn to God as a result.

When the two witnesses are killed the world will cheer for three and a half days but will have a rude awakening from heaven – 10% of the city will fall and 7,000 people will be killed. And the two witnesses will come back to life after three and a half days.

And all of it will be caught on television around the world in real time!

Again we have to remember that this book of the end time events was not given to us to scare us, but to prepare us, because the time is coming. Scripture tells us that many have scoffed at it all saying “where is the promise of His coming”.

But to the heavenly realm, 2000 years is only two days, we are now at the end of the two days and it is up to us to tell the good news of Jesus Christ who came to take away the sin of the world,  for indeed “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever – whosoever – believes on Him shall not perish but have eternal life”. It is our responsibility to tell others what we know and what we have...

...and it looks like we are out of time again, I will pick up from here next week...

(Music interlude on the live radio show)

For those who don't know God personally, you've never asked the Lord into your heart and life, but the Holy Spirit has touched you today, you can come to Him right now through Jesus Christ who is the mediator between man and God, the One who is the Way, the Truth and the Life.  That is everything we want in life -- the way, the truth, and the life.

If you want the free gift of salvation, redemption, pardon from your sin, if you want a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, the God of Creation, just say this prayer:

"Lord I come to you right now for I have heard the Gospel and believe that it is true and powerful... I repent of my sin, of my separation from you, I turn my life around and give it to you right now, come into my heart, be my Lord and Saviour, make me a forgiven child of God today...Amen."

Music interlude -- Beulah Land by the great voices of the Petersen's from a youtube video.

Yes, Jesus has gone to prepare a place for us, and He said, “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where I am you may be also".

If you said that prayer above, and meant it in your heart sincerely, He has received you and you are now a born-again child of God. It is important that you tell someone as a witness and confirmation of your new turning point this day, and that you join a Bible-believing church in your community, where you can worship God with other Bible-believing Christians, hear the word of God, and grow in your new-found faith – or your renewed and re-dedicated faith.

Closing Narrative…
