Timing Revelation April UpdateGreetings, I hope this letter finds you well and healthy. Again I must say that I am a couple of days late sending this newsletter out this month. There is no lack of work and time just rolls by like a rushing stream. However here we are in the wonderful time of Easter/Passover. I did manage to put up a few more pages on the Timing Revelation.com web site, so I hope you did check it out for new articles, etc. Also I am pleased to let you know that if you are looking for Christian gifts, books, products, you can buy them conveniently through my affiliate program with Christianbook. You will find the links on the pages of my web site TimingRevelation.com Passover and Easter...In this newsletter today, let's talk about the wonderful time that is coming upon us which is that of Passover for our Jewish friends and Easter for Christians.I was interested in reading the Jewish take on this great holiday in the current newsletter of The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews of Canada, of which I have been a supported for many years. With their open permission to share this educational resource with believers everywhere, I bring to you a short excerpt of the Biblical teaching from the Jewish perspective, which purpose is to build bridges of understanding about the Jewish roots of Christianity. What is Passover for the Jews?“Over the past 3,000 years, Passover has endured as the most celebrated and widely observed holiday in the Jewish tradition. The Passover holiday, which begins this year at sundown on April 5 and ends at sundown on April 13, commemorates the seminal event in Jewish history — the story of the Exodus which led to the birth of the Jewish nation, Israel. In addition, the most basic and fundamental principles found in Judaism — faith, prayer, deliverance, freedom, and service to God — are woven into this timeless story.“It is one of the foundational stories in the Hebrew Bible (which Christians know as the Old Testament) — Moses leading God’s people out of Egypt, away from Pharaoh and out of slavery. The suffering of the children of Israel and their deliverance from slavery reaffirms our faith that God protects, provides for, and deeply loves His people and that He hears our prayers. “Once a year, Jews devote an entire week to recalling the events of the Exodus, internalizing these messages, and growing in their faith.” You can read the rest of this study at the IFCJ web site https://www.ifcj.ca And what is Passover for Christians? The Passover and exodus out of Egypt foreshadowed what was to be the future deliverance and redemption out of a world of sin for all those who believe in God through Jesus Christ, “Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29).For the Christians this celebration is known as Easter. Jesus was Jewish and a member of the Jewish community, God in the flesh, who brought the good news of salvation “to the Jew first and to the Gentile”, gave his earthly life for it and was resurrected three days later by the power of Almighty God. The night prior to His crucifixion Jesus prepared and shared a Seder meal as the last supper with the disciples. From this event Christians celebrate communion around the world not only at Easter time but every day, or week, or month depending to each different countries. When I co-pastored a small church before I retired, I would share communion with the believers from the scripture in 1st Corinthians 11:23-24... If you and your family want to get a small piece of broken bread and a small glass of juice, we can partake together of that wonderful experience right now... Reading from 1st Corinthians 11:23 & 24: “... the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.” All then partake of the eating of the bread together. Continuing from verse:25: “After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” All then partake of the drinking of the juice together. Continuing from verse 26: “For as often as you eat this bread, and drink this cup, you do show the Lord's death till he come.” “Amen. Come, Lord Jesus” (Revelation 22:20). Did you know?It is amazing how many believers expect revival to be coming in the near future, when the Bible says that there will be complete apostasy in the very end times -- in which we live today by the way -- prior to the Lord's coming. Most of you probably heard already the latest figure of where the Western world stands in their belief of the importance of morals and patriotism. Here are the latest numbers that hit the news media just a couple of weeks ago: in 1998, 70 percent of respondents deemed patriotism to be very important; now, that number is 38 percent. Twenty-five years ago, 62 percent said religion was very important; now only 39 percent do. And in another survey I saw on a Christian television program, 70% of Christians don't believe that Jesus is the only way to heaven!
